Even with the best recycling efforts there remains a need for facilities to treat residual waste without resorting to landfill.
The smart solution is to encourage ‘community sized’ facilities that can provide for local residual waste, with minimum environmental and traffic impact. The other desired requirement is that they can operate at the highest possible energy efficiency by recovering both heat and electricity to create a low cost, low carbon supply for the benefit of the local community.
Nick Dawber, Managing Director of Energos, tells Waste Planning magazine why small-scale energy from waste – using advanced conversion technology – can provide an efficient and acceptable solution to clean energy recovery from waste.
